Miriam | Newborn
I learned something at this shoot. I learned what kind of newborn photos I love most.
Here was the situation…baby Miriam came a little late, which changed our plans to do the shoot within her first 7 days. (Can’t control when babies want to come out!) I was out of town the following weekend, so we had no choice but to push the shoot back another week. I won’t lie, I was nervous, because newborn shoots usually are scheduled in their first week because that’s when you can keep them asleep the whole time, and get all those cute little cuddly poses. But, any older than a week, and it’s a toss up…they’ll either sleep (like a baby, hehe) the whole time, or they’ll be awake and kickin’ (literally). At a full two weeks old, I was worried she’d be awake and fussy, and those sweet sleeping photos just wouldn’t happen. And that’s how I’m supposed to do it, right??
Well, that’s what I was hoping for. But you know what…she was awake. She was kickin’. There were moments when she was fussy. But the photos I got to capture were real. They were family moments, the look in her eyes as she gazed up at her parents, the laugh on their faces as they watched her antics. The kicking feet and flailing arms…all those little movements and expressions that are just so…baby. Not to hate on the classic sleeping baby pics (because they really are adorable), but I think these are more my style. If I had a baby, I’d want his/her little traits captured. After all, a baby comes into this world already equipped with a little personality, so why not document it?
Sweet baby Miriam, your little personality is precious, and I could see in your parents’ eyes how much they adore you already. Thank you for flailing your arms, kicking your feet, and reminding me of how beautiful the little moments can be.

Almost Midnight
It’s 11:46 pm, and I got home about an hour ago from second-shooting a lovely wedding. I am exhausted to my core, every bone in my body aches, and my right foot hurts…but it doesn’t matter in the slightest. I’m in a great mood, because I just spent the last 12 hours behind the lens. Seriously, I don’t know what I would do with myself if I didn’t have photography. Earlier this week I actually contemplated quitting photography. Self-doubt, insecurity, and straight up exhaustion became a toxic combo that made me question everything. Throw in my tendency to slightly overreact to things, and wowza. Not a great feeling. But the thing is, when I really did contemplate removing photography from my life, I just knew it wasn’t even an option. I can’t live without it…which again sounds a little dramatic, but seriously…I just know I wouldn’t be happy if I wasn’t taking pictures. So, I will probably continue to doubt myself, and I will definitely always be a drama queen, but I will never give up photography. My life would be missing an essential piece, and that’s just not ok. So, tonight I sit here tired beyond belief, but happy. Really happy.
And because I’m feeling so happy, I thought I’d share another photo of the happiest little baby in the world…

Courtney Fries Workshop:::Music Ranch, Lakeland, FL Part 1
Alright, I’m definitely blogging these photos all out of order, but that’s ok. As long as you get to see them all eventually, right?
This sweet little baby was our first model at the workshop. We got to the Music Ranch in Lakeland, FL bright and early, and immediately had cuteness all over the place. There were some other kids who modeled for us too, but you’ll just have to be patient and wait for those. :)
I love Courtney’s idea to use oranges in the shoot. The baby enjoyed playing with them, and they added such a fun pop of color.
Enjoy the cuteness, and have a lovely Wednesday!

Sweet Baby Bri
Sweet baby Bri…I cannot get over how much your family loves you.
The way your Uncle Xavi kisses your chubby cheeks makes my heart melt. The way your daddy holds your tiny body so safely in his arms brings tears to my eyes. The way your momma gazes at you like she’s never seen anything so beautiful makes me happy inside. And the way your grandparents’ eyes light up when they squeeze your tiny toes and hold your itty bitty hands just makes me smile.
Baby Bri, you are loved by many…what better way to come into this world?
Xavi plays BEAUTIFUL music on the guitar, and Bri was just mesmerized by his John Mayer-playing skills. They stared into each other’s eyes, and I just paused and watched the moment happen. Such a precious look in his eyes…

Baby Bri:::Gainesville Baby Photographer
Oh Baby Bri…you are just too adorable for words. From your sweet, unruly tufts of hair to your flailing arms when you panic over spitting out your pacifier, you bring a smile to my face every time I see you. Cristina and Jeremy, you have a beautiful baby girl, and you make being new parents look effortless. If I am half as calm as you someday, I will be doing well. It was so special to see the way you look at each other and the love in your eyes when you look at your little girl. You are a wonderful family, and I am so excited about this new chapter in your lives. Thank you for welcoming me and Erica (my assistant for the day) into your home!
And Cristina…you are amazing. You are a new mom and yet you had cinnamon rolls and coffee waiting for us. How do you do it?? :)

I love little baby clothes…and I want pjs like Bri’s! How cute!!

Quick side note: Cristina’s mom made the majority of Bri’s cute hairclips, AND the tutu she is wearing! I love when grandmas can sew. My grandma used to make me Easter dresses and all sorts of other clothes when I was little, and I loved everything she made. Maybe I need to learn to sew so someday I won’t be a lame grandma!
But I digress…back to the baby cuteness!

We gave Bri a little break from having a camera in her face and got some shots of Cristina and Jeremy in their backyard. Jeremy is over a foot taller than Cristina, and I love it! They are just the cutest couple ever.

Super big thanks to Erica for being such a great assistant!! You made the shoot sooo much easier, and you are seriously a pro lens-holder. Way to work it!
I haven’t posted an outtake in awhile, but this one just cracked me up. Look at the pacifier…caught it mid-spit! :)

Baby Briana:::Sneak Peek:::Gainesville Baby Photographer
Oh, babies. To be honest, until I starting photographing them, I hadn’t spent much time around them. Sure, I babysat, quite a bit actually, but they were always toddlers or older. Only once did I babysit a newborn, and I was terrified the entire time. What’s that noise it’s making? Is it ok? Why is it crying? How do I make it stop? Total and complete fear.
Ok, so I’m not ready for a baby anytime soon. That’s ok. For now, I’m loving getting to squish their cute cheeks and touch their tiny toes when I photograph them. Seriously, have you ever felt anything softer than little baby skin? It’s just too sweet.
Enjoy baby Bri’s sneak peek…and look out for more coming soon!

Baby Katherine:::Gainesville Baby Photographer
Mmm…babies. I love them–their cuddles, their sweet, powdery baby smell, their silky skin, their teeny-tiny fingernails. I also love handing them back to their mothers, as I am SO not ready for one of my own. :) But that’s why photographing babies is so much fun for me…I get to spend an afternoon with the little cuties, capture their sweet baby smiles, and then head home to the only baby I’ll have for awhile–my puppy. Trust me, she’s enough baby for me to handle right now!
But this little one, baby Katherine. She smiled at me and it was all over. I just love her! Matt and Ann, I am officially offering myself up for a night of babysitting. :) Go on a fun date, and I’ll hang with Katherine. Tell me when, and I’ll be there. She’s just the sweetest baby ever, and I would love to spend a night watching Baby Einstein with her.
This is Matt and Ann’s first baby (besides their own pup, Murdock!), and I can already tell they are going to be wonderful parents. The look on both of their faces as they smile down at their daughter, and the light in their eyes as they look at each other, let’s me know that they’ve got it. They’ve got love for each other and for Katherine, and that’s the makings of a wonderful new family.
